Clams Casinos Fact Mix

Clams Casino is probably one of the most hyped up producers right now along with Araabmuzik, who both made sure A$AP ROCKY's LIVELOVEA$AP was such an awesome release. In March Clams Casiono did this mix for Fact Magazine. It's the soundtrack for your weekend. Trust me
The mix can be downloaded from Fact Magazines website here

Mirror
The room he lived in had many mirrors. Some of them he could see himself in. Others he saw other people in. He would look at the mirrors with other people with fascination, wondering what they would do. Mostly, they gazed back at him, fascinated. The mirrors with his own reflection didn't interest him. They became dusty, and every time he gave them a glance, he noticed that it became increasingly difficult to see his own reflection in them. After a while, they had become surfaces. One day, the person in his favorite mirror disappeared. He tried looking at the mirror in all sorts of angles, but the man was nowhere to be seen. Luckily, the other mirrors were still occupied with all sorts of people, so he found another favorite mirror. It was a woman. At first, she gazed at him, just like he did. Other times, she would do other things, like make food or watch television. But he would always watch. By now, the mirror with his own reflection was impossible to find amongst the dust and dirt of the room. The thought didn't even cross his mind. All that mattered was his new favorite mirror.
But the woman in his favorite mirror disappeared, just like his last favorite mirror. And the third, and the fourth, and the fifth, and so on. They gazed back at him, but they eventually left, as if growing weary. So eventually, there was only one mirror left. His least favorite mirror. It was a man. He had always felt uneasy about this last mirror. He always felt the eyeballs of the onlooker, no matter where he was in his room. This reflection never looked away, never did anything else, just stared back.
The room he lived in had many mirrors. Some of them he could see himself in.
Best Hip Hop Albums of 2011, part 1
BLU - N O Y O R K

MP3: Blu - K E E P U S H I N N .
Kendrick Lamarr - Section.80

MP3: Kendrick Lamarr - A.D.H.D.
Dave Brubeck - Unsquare Dance
What's awesome about this song is the time signature. It's played in 7/8. Most popular music nowadays is in 4/4, so it really fucks with your head to listen to this. At least mine.
Gotye - Somebody That I Used To Know (feat. Kimbra)
Sometimes Australia just gets it so god damn right. This song is topping the charts there. I rarely listen to a single song over and over again, but this one did it for me.
Bad Band Not Good
"is there toast in the room because this is a freakin jam"
- mambo4dude
Earlier this year I stumbled across a video of a Jazz Trio calling themselves Bad Band, Not Good doing a jam session based on material from Odd Future head honcho Tyler, The Creators album Bastard. Not sure why I didn't post it back then, but here it is
I figured this was just a bunch of Jazz students jamming and didn't look for more info on them. Until now. Turns out the trio consisting of Matt Tavares on piano, Alex Sowinski on drums and Chester Hansen on bass does a whole bunch of crazyawesome jams based around some of my favorite artists like Flying Lotus, J Dilla and the aforementioned Tyler, The Creator. It makes a lot of sense to do jazz sessions from Flying Lotus and J Dilla material, since their music samples jazz to begin with.
They have their material available for download on their tumblr, and I'd rather you go there to download their stuff, so they get the extra hits.
Terrence Malick

I'm seeing Terrence Malicks 'Tree of Life' today, and I decided it was about time I saw some of his earlier work, particularly 'Badlands' (1972) and 'Days of Heaven' (1978).
Years ago I saw 'The Thin Red Line', a movie I at the time dismissed because it was too slow. Well, I was 13, and I was in no mental state to appreciate a meditation on war; I wanted clear cut heroes and enemies and a clear cut catharsis at the end. As a result, Terrence Malick didn't seem all that interesting to me for years. When I started in film school people were talking about him, but by that point I was into the whole "well if everyone's already seen it why bother" mentality.
I'm embarassed to say Terrence Malicks work has mostly gone unnoticed by me.
'Badlands' is about a young couple, her in her teens, him in his twenties, killing her family and running from the law through the Badlands of America. We see the world through their eyes, a childish and damaged worldview devoid of regular empathy. He kills in a reckless and thoughtless way, mostly to get rid of annoyances and anything getting in his way. She's just along for the ride, not condoning his killings, but not stopping him either. It is often said of the movie that it's a study of good and evil. It really is a perfect analysis of the movie, especially as the movie reaches its climax.
Whereas 'Badlands' is a commentary on the nature of good and evil in society, 'Days of Heaven' feels like a study of the more fundamental human conditions; we want the best for ourselves, and sometimes we are willing to do evil things to get there, and sometimes that path leads us somewhere other than a place of happiness. But nobody is pure evil, and nobody is pure good. We're all, as the young narrator says, "part demon, part angel". Oh, and it's BEAUTIFULLY shot. Probably one of the best looking films I've seen this side of Sven Nykvist
This is an incoherent mess, but I figured I better just put something here. So see Days of Heaven, and see Badlands. They're both some of the best american movies ever made. Yes, seriously.
Active Child - You Are All I See

Active Child aka Pat Grossi just released his debut full-length. It's one of my favorite albums of 2011 so far.
